Victoria memorial hall

Victoria memorial hall - Kolkata

Victoria memorial is one of the magnificent architecture and the face of Kolkata tourism. It was built in the year 1906 and extended in 1921. This beautiful landmark of Kolkata was built to be dedicated to Queen Victoria of England. Hence it is considered one of the best historically significant buildings in the entire West Bengal.

Today, however, the place is also turned into a massive museum with a rare collection of artifacts. There are more than 25 galleries inside the building that homes many rare paintings, memorabilia, and manuscript from ancient British times. The museum is open till 5 in the evening for travelers and tourists. The architect and designers behind this architectural marvel are William Emerson and Vincent Esch.

Mother House

Mother House is a well-preserved room and a small exhibit area that has Mother Teresa’s tomb inside it. It is not only an important landmark of Kolkata but also an important place in the hearts of millions of people across the country. This place emerges as an emotional place for many people who are ardent devotees of Mother Teresa!

The mother house otherwise is a pilgrimage place established by Mother Teresa in 1950. People find peace and serenity in this place. However, the place gained popularity after her death and people come to visit the tomb and pay tribute.

Dakshinewar Kali Temple

Kolkata is known for literature and food, which we know for sure. However, there is one more thing that Kolkata is well known for temples. And Dakshinewar Kali Temple is undoubtedly one of the best among them. It is a navarstna temple situated on the Hooghly River.
The founder of the temple is Rani Rashmoni. Dakshinewar temple is constructed and opened in the year 1855 and maintained a beautiful navaratna style of architecture. People visit this temple to seek blessings as well as to explore the architectural facet of the place.

Park Street – Explore the nightlife

If you are looking for some fun and nightlife, Park Street is the right spot for you. The street park has many pubs and spots well known for nightlife. You can see a young crowd gathering here at the place to chill out and enjoy. Also, you will come across some talented musicians and singers at the pubs and clubs.

Howrah Bridge – Truss Arch Bridge

Howrah Bridge is the face of Kolkata. And hence there won’t be any people who don’t know this astounding bridge standing Proudly on river Hooghly. This bridge is an architectural marvel, with balance on a cantilever. It is this known as the suspension bridge. It is indeed one of the most complicated designs till now.
The construction of the Howrah Bridge started in the year 1935 and ended near 1943, almost a decade later. The total length of the bridge is 706 meters.

Eden garden

If you are a cricket fan, you must have seen Eden gardens a hundred times. It is the oldest stadium in India and also one f the largest, precisely speaking the second largest one in India. This huge stadium can accommodate more than 60000 people which is huge when compared. This stadium is open for visiting only during the matches, however, if you want to enter the place on a no-match day then you need special permission from the admin body, which is the Cricket Association of Bengal at present.

Science City

Visit Science City in Kolkata and experience life’s most beautiful exploration. It is the largest science center not only in Kolkata but in India. It is taken care of by the Government Of India! The Science City has many things in it, right from Space Odyssey, Earth Exploration Hall, and a science park to speak precisely.

The Science City is situated in the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, Kolkata. People especially students visit the place eagerly and enjoy the best of the Kolkata trip.

Quest Mall

After all the sightseeing and exploration, it is time for serious shopping. And Quest Mall is the best and the most loved shopping arena in Kolkata. It was opened in 2013 and is the largest in the city. This mall’s parking lot itself can accommodate 1300 vehicles at a time. The entire mall stands at 700,000 square which makes it a visibly gain structure.

College street

College Street is one of my places to explore in Kolkata. It is indeed the famous book street with small and large book shops across the corner. This place is also known as Boi Para among the locals. College street is also considered the largest old book or second-hand book shop market not only in India but the entire world. Tough college street is open 24/7, few book shops will be closed on Sundays.
