- April to June is known as the peak season of Sonmarg. This season is ideal for newly married couples and families. And this time, you will see most of the nearby states crowd here. This time, travelers will find pleasant weather, green valleys, and snow will be visible from a good height. There is still enough snow at Thajiwas for sledging and snow play.

- Carry proper woollens in winter, and keep at least one warm layer even in summer. The weather here changes without warning.
- If you are planning a trek, wear trekking shoes and gear such as a 40 – 60L backpack with essentials in it, moisture-wicking synthetic clothing, sturdy waterproof hiking boots, and a first-aid kit. You can also carry a walking stick, steel mug, etc.
- Always keep cash with you, as digital payments are not accepted everywhere.
- Start early from Srinagar for a comfortable drive.
- Check the weather before you travel, especially in winter.
